How to Make Easy Easter Bath Bomb Eggs (4 Ways)

These Easter bath bombs are even easier than they sound! Not your typical bath bomb.

When my brother and I were little, my mom would set up a part of the house with streamers, and make these elaborate little Easter baskets for the two of us, with our favorite candy and little gifts – nail polish and lip gloss for me, mini sketchbooks and markers for my bro. And it was something that I always looked forward to, even as I grew out of the whole Easter bunny phase (who doesn’t like getting gifts?!).

Now that I’m older, and making my own traditions, I’m finding that I want to create some of those little moments for other people during the holidays. No baskets needed –  just something small to say I was thinking of them. So, I came up with an idea for DIY spa eggs that I thought would be really easy to whip up. Would be a cute Easter gift for friends and moms especially.

With some homemade bath salts (tutorial after the jump) and plastic Easter eggs, I made a few batches and wanted to share the results them with you too, just in case you want to make your own. I have a few different bath salt recipes to choose from. Click through for the details.

4 Ways to Make Easter Bath Bombs with Salts

All you really need are a handful of those plastic Easter eggs that pull apart so you can put little goodies inside, and one of the homemade bath salt recipes below. Just mix up a batch and pour them into both halves of the plastic Easter eggs and then push the two ends back together to lock them in place. Add a little tag to explain what’s inside or an ‘open me in the bath tub’ note, etc and they’re ready to go.

And just in case you’d rather skip the DIY part, you can purchase pre-made bath salts from some surprising places locally (I saw that my local Whole Foods has a bunch of pre-made bath salts in different scents in the beauty / makeup section).

Vanilla Volcanic Bath Salts / Bath Bomb Recipe

1. Mix everything together.

Mix a 1/4 cup of epsom salt, a 1/4 cup of volcanic salt (also known as black lava salt), 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda, and 3/4 cups of extra coarse sea salt (available on Amazon) into a large bowl or container.

2. Add essential oils.

Then, add several drops of vanilla essential oils. Depending on how fragrant you want the bath salts to be, add between 4–8 drops of essential oils.

3. Add mixture to eggs.

Spoon into plastic Easter eggs.

Eucalyptus Bath Salts Recipe 

1. Mix all the ingredients.

Mix a 1/2 cup of epsom salt, 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda, and 3/4 cups of extra coarse sea salt into a large bowl or container. 

2. Add eucalyptus essential oils.

Then, add several drops of eucalyptus essential oils. Depending on how fragrant you want the bath salts to be, add between 4–8 drops of essential oils.

3. Add color and scoop into plastic eggs.

Next, spoon everything into a sealable bag, add 1-2 drops of food coloring (blue or purple), seal the bag, shake everything up and well mixed, and spoon into plastic Easter eggs.

Rose Petal Bath Salts Recipe

I made dried rose petal bath salts a while back, and shared the recipe right here: rose petal bath salts DIY. I didn’t actually use any of this type of bath salt in the photos, but they’d be a great match for something like this.

Lavender Bath Bomb / Salts Recipe

1. Mix ingredients.

Mix a 1/2 cup of epsom salt, 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda, and 3/4 cups of extra coarse sea salt into a large bowl or container. 

2. Add lavender essential oil.

Then, add several drops of lavender essential oils. Depending on how fragrant you want the bath salts to be, add between 4–8 drops of essential oils.

3. Add food coloring if desired and scoop into eggs.

Next, spoon everything into a sealable bag, add 1-2 drops of food coloring (blue or purple), seal the bag, shake everything up and well mixed, and spoon into plastic Easter eggs.
