Here’s our step by step guide on how to print your printables:
What is a printable?
A printable is an artwork that you can purchase online and that you will receive as a downloadable digital file, most-commonly in JPG, PNG or PDF format. You can then print your new artwork directly from your home printer, or for more professional results, arrange to have it printed in your local print shop. It is a new and revolutionary way to buy art, which holds many advantages, including their accessibility, affordability. They are so affordable you can update your gallery wall with every new season and revamp your decor whenever you feel like a change.

What is an aspect ratio?
In order to save you all the work of having to crop your files to fit your frame, and to avoid any distortion while printing, our printables all come in different aspect ratios. All you need to do is select the correct one to fit your frame. We know not everyone is like us, working with prints from morning until evening, and we understand some of our customers are having trouble understanding aspect ratio and how this applies to prints. Let us try to explain: simply put, an aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between the width and height of an image. For example, if you want to print your printable to fit a 50x70cm frame, you need to choose the 5×7 aspect ratio file. Or, if you want your print to measure 24x36in, you need to use the 2×3 aspect ratio file.
2×3: 12x18in ; 16x24in ; 20x30cm ; 24x36in
3×4: 12x16in ; 18x24in ; 30x40cm
5×7: 10x14in ; 20x28in ; 50x70cm
A: All ISO sizes: A8, A7, A6, A5, A4, A3
4×5: 8x10in ; 16x20in ; 24x30in
Resolution and DPI
Unless stated otherwise in the description, our printables all are ready to print in a 24x36in / 70x100cm size with 300DPI. DPI stands for the number of dots in a printed inch, it is used to determine an image resolution. Basically, the more dots the higher the quality of the print, thus the more sharpness and details. 300dpi is the optimal size for a clear and crisp picture. Any image printed with less than 150dpi will look pixelated and blurry.
For a high quality print, the quality of paper is very important. We recommend printing your printables on a thick and heavy cardstock paper, with a minimum weight of 230gsm. Printing on a heavy paper is important as it will give your print rigidity, hence preventing curling and warping. We also recommend a matte finishing, especially for artworks and typography prints, as they create a smoother look. We do not recommend using shinny photo paper as they reflect light and are shiny.
What kind of ink should you use to print your printables?
For the most professional results, it is best to use pigment-based inks as they last much longer than dye inks. The pigments are made of extremely small particles which sit on the paper and bond with the fibres. They are also waterproof and chemical free. In our opinion, if you want your printable artworks to be gallery quality, pigment based ink is a must.
Where to have your printables printed?
If you don’t want to print your printables at home you can have them printed at your local print shop or some online printing service. As long as you make sure to choose a heavy, high-quality paper. Paper quality makes a enormous difference- believe me! If you are in the USA or Canada, you can have your printables printed at Staples, Walmart, or Fedex printing services. We also sell all our designs printed, as art print and shipped in a sturdy kraft tube in the print shop. We ship worldwide.
